What VAL Agent Does With Your File

VAL Agent reads the file contents, understands the structure, and analyses it based on your question. Here is an example — a CSV with sales data by outlet, analysed on the spot:

VAL Agent analysing an uploaded CSV with channel mix table and key takeaways

The response includes:

  • Data tables — structured breakdown of the file contents
  • Analysis — patterns, comparisons, and calculations
  • Key takeaways — the agent highlights what matters most
  • Follow-up suggestions — what to explore next

Supported File Types

File typeWhat VAL Agent does
CSVReads rows and columns, runs calculations, compares values, spots trends
Excel (.xlsx, .xls)Same as CSV — reads sheets and analyses the data
PDFExtracts text and tables, summarises content, answers questions about the document
Images (.jpg, .png)Reads text from photos — useful for receipts, invoices, screenshots, menus

Example Questions

After attaching a file, try questions like:

For spreadsheets (CSV, Excel)

  • "Summarise this data"
  • "Which outlet has the highest revenue?"
  • "Compare the two columns and highlight differences"
  • "Are there any anomalies or outliers?"

For PDFs

  • "Summarise this document"
  • "What are the key terms in this contract?"
  • "Extract all dates and amounts"

For images

  • "What does this receipt say?"
  • "Extract the line items from this invoice"
  • "Read the text in this screenshot"

Tips

  • Be specific"Compare revenue between the two outlets" gives a better answer than "Analyse this"
  • You can attach multiple files — upload several files and ask the agent to compare or combine them
  • Files are not saved to your VAL data — uploaded files are analysed in the conversation only. They do not get imported into your VAL tables
  • Large files work — VAL Agent can handle substantial spreadsheets, but very large files may take longer to process
